Hansen Industries
Industry: Sheet Metal Fabrication
Hansen Industries, Ltd. was founded in 1975 in Richmond, British Columbia, and has earned a reputation for its quality work in both precision sheet metal fabrication and machining. As one of the first shops to adopt ISO-9001 quality standards in British Columbia, they grew from a small supplier of elevator replacement parts to a combined custom precision sheet metal, machining, stamping, and waterjet cutting shop. The team at Hansen implemented a DOS-based software package over 25 years ago but found that the updated version could not solve the issues they faced.
Challenges
- Their previous software could only handle one division
- Limited to scheduling eight workstations at a time
- Unable to separate inventory between multiple locations
- The system couldn’t hold their drawings
- Half a dozen separate systems were running in the shop
Solutions
- Find an application that fits their needs for flexibility and compatibility
- Hansen Industries met the MIE Solutions Team at a trade show in 2014 and decided to partner with them and use MIE Trak Pro ERP in their facility
Value Added
- Eliminated the multiple systems used in the shop
- ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) and non-conformance reporting in MIE Trak Pro
- Quality control is integrated with the rest of the system
- Metrics are calculated for acceptance levels (>99%) and on-time delivery (97%)
- Real-time dashboards that can be viewed from anywhere
- Improved Purchasing process – “…consistent purchasing across the system.”
“In order to remain at the top of the industry, we knew we needed an ERP system to track our efficiency.”
